About
The Philadelphia Liberation Center is a socialist community center based in the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia. Since opening in March 2018, we have grown into a vital hub for service, study, struggle and socialist politics in the city. The Philly Liberation Center is staffed by volunteers and members of the Party for Socialism and Liberation.
Work
The Philly Liberation Center is involved in three main areas of work: service, study, and struggle! We conduct programs that serve the people, we host study groups, film screenings, and forums on pressing issues to sharpen working class consciousness, and we engage in direct action to fight for socialism in our lifetimes. The Liberation Center hosts a library, workshop, meeting spaces, and is open four days a week.
Location
Kensington is a neighborhood that is deeply oppressed by the system, whose residents struggle every day to survive. Perhaps the most badly affected community in the country by the opioid crisis, Kensington has been left behind by the city’s elite and now targeted for gentrification by the big banks and real estate developers. The Liberation Center is proud to work alongside our neighbors every day as we fight for the right to live in dignity.
